Use the Checklist to plan for your first semester at Tulane. Many of the checklist items can be completed in advance. Some checklist items have a limited window or will not be available until a later date this summer, so be sure to check back periodically for updates. Review the entire checklist now so you can plan ahead.
____ Register for Transfer Student Orientation. The program will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 with a check-in beginning at 1:15 pm in the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life in the Qatar Ballroom, room 212. The program will conclude at 5:00 pm with a reception to follow.
____ Check for missing financial aid items (which may be incremental) by logging into Gibson Online Financial Aid and checking the Student Requirements tab.
____ Consider completing the Authorization to Release Educational Records form to grant your parent or guardian access to your educational records. This form must be turned in IN PERSON to each respective office. You can turn this form in during your first week on campus.
____ Enter your preferred name and pronoun information by visiting the Office of the Registrar and Gibson Online.
____ On-Campus Parking Permit: If you are planning to have a vehicle on campus, you should purchase a parking permit through Tulane Parking Services Office.
____ Review the Academic Honor Code so you're prepared for the start of fall classes.
____ Review the Tulane University Code of Student Conduct, and familiarize yourself with the Student Responsibilities within the Code.
____ Check your Tulane email regularly!
____ Request any needed accommodations and submit documentation with the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility. Review the Guidelines for Documentation for more information. Have questions? Schedule a meeting with the Goldman Center staff remotely (by Zoom video chat or by phone) or in person.
____ Review the Fall 2019 Schedule of Classes.
____ Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to plan your course schedule. The transfer student advisor is Shelby Siegel (email@example.com). Non-transfers should call the Academic Advising Center at (504) 865-5798. Your immunization records must be submitted first!
____ Complete your housing application by signing your Housing Agreement in the Housing Portal system. Housing is provided, space permitting, on a first come first serve basis, but the application will remain open for transfer students throughout the summer [Use your Gibson Online username and password].
____ June 1: Check your Tulane email for health insurance requirements and details about the health insurance action process, which begins June 1. Information about how to enroll in the Tulane-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP) will be sent by United Healthcare Student Resources (UHCSR). Information about how to opt out of T-SHIP by submitting a waiver request will be sent by Gallagher Student Health and Special Risk.
___ Check the Financial Aid website to review necessary steps to assure timely delivery of your aid (including merit scholarships). You’ll also want to submit any outside scholarships received to Financial Aid.
___ June 30: Deadline to sign up for your meal plan. Review the meal plan options and sign up HERE.
____ July 1: Deadline to submit your final high school transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admission.

____ July 15: Complete your Student Evacuation Plan in Gibson Online (under the Services section) so your family can be prepared in the event of a weather emergency.
____ July 15: Check your Tulane email for instructions on completing three online learning modules to learn more information about All In: Tulane's commitment to stop all sexual violence, Tulane University Police Department resources, and how to effectively prepare for emergencies at Tulane.
____ If ongoing mental health concerns have been identified prior to coming to Tulane, including ADHD and other psychiatric medication needs, the CAPS Care Coordinator will help you find appropriate treatment support for a New Orleans community provide who can offer consistent care over an extended time.
____ July 26: Log into Gibson Online to view your tuition and fees bill beginning today. Your tuition bill must be paid by August 15.
____ August 1: Download the Tulane Orientation App for all Android and iOS devices in the App Store and Google Play for the Fall Welcome schedule. Fall Welcome programming runs from August 26 – September 8. Search Tulane Orientation in the App Store and Google Play.
____ August 1: Deadline to either enroll in the Tulane-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP) or opt out of the T-SHIP by submitting a waiver request. You must take action by August 1, 2019 to avoid being automatically charged for and enrolled in T-SHIP. Visit campushealth.tulane.edu/insurance for more information.
____ August 9: Deadline to submit a photo for your Tulane Splash Card (Student ID) through Gibson Online. You need your Splash Card to check into your residence hall on Move-In Day. Avoid the lines on Move-In Day by submitting a photo in advance and pick up your card when you check into your residence hall. Follow the step by step instructions HERE.
____ August 15: Set up your OrgSync portal through Gibson Online to check out campus organizations and learn more about different ways to get involved. This is Tulane's student portal for organizations and events. Your login information is the same as your Gibson ID and password.
____ August 20: Deadline to complete the online wellness education courses (sexual violence and alcohol modules).
____ August 20: Deadline to complete the three online learning modules to learn about All In: Tulane's commitment to stop all sexual violence, Tulane University Police Department resources, and how to effectively prepare for emergencies at Tulane.
____ August 22: Move-In date for transfer students living on campus. Unpack, get settled, and start exploring campus!
____ August 23: Attend Transfer Student Orientation at 2 p.m. in Qatar Ballroom, Room 212 in the Lavin-Bernick Center for University Life. Check-in will begin at 1:15 p.m.
____ August 26: Review the Fall Welcome Schedule! Fall Welcome programming runs August 26 through September 8.
____ September 7: Attend the Student Activities Expo at Reily Student Recreation Center between 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and meet the leaders of student government, academic, club sports, special interest, media, multicultural, political, programming and performance, religious, community service, Greek letter, and honor society organizations. Don’t wait to get involved on campus.
____ Check out events and sign up to get matched with an upper-class mentor through the Peer Mentoring Program sponsored by The O (the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Office for Gender and Sexual Diversity).
