Take advantage of these additional resources.
$ KNOW THE LANDSCAPE
Talk with your family about who will be paying for what. Know your income sources and what you are responsible for.
$ WRITE IT OUT
Anticipate your income and expenses. Detail not only your tuition, room, and textbooks, but your everyday living expenses. This may include lines for a phone bill, insurance, groceries, clothing, and other essentials. Don’t forget to budget for fun, too! Make sure your budget is realistic - it will help you plan better and make it more likely that you’ll stick with it.
$ TRACK YOUR SPENDING
Whether using an app, an excel document, or just a plain notebook, keep a log of what you buy and when. Although you may not want to confront the reality of that $100 pair of gold sequin leggings you bought last week, knowledge is power. The more informed you are about your spending, the more empowered you will be to shape it.
$ BE A FRIEND TO FUTURE YOU
Start a savings account and put money into it with every paycheck or bonus you get. Small transfers will add up over time and Future You will be very grateful to have a little cushion. Whether you’re saving up for a security deposit or a road trip to see the world’ largest ball of twine, practice good money management now and reap the rewards later.
FINANCIAL AID
Figuring out how to pay for your education can be a challenge, to say the least. The staff at Financial Aid works with you and your family to help you understand how financial aid works and help you identify the resources necessary to make your education affordable. They have a ton of information on their website, from comprehensive guides to step- by-step instructions.
