Use the TU New Student Checklist to plan for your first semester at Tulane. Many of the checklist items can be completed in advance. Some items have a limited window or will not be available until a later date. This checklist will be continuously updated as details may change. Review the entire checklist now so you can plan ahead. Most items are encouraged, while some are required.
JANUARY 13: Spring Tuition Bill Due. Tulane Accounts Recievable. bills are paid through Gibson Online on the Billing tab. View your bill beginning DECEMBER 16. Required
Apply for Financial Aid: To apply for federal aid, complete a FAFSA, and to apply for need-based scholarship from Tulane, complete a CSS Profile and send tax documentation. Additional documentation may be required to complete the application. Be mindful of any deadlines for the individual applications you submit.
Check for missing financial aid items (which may be incremental) by logging into Gibson Online Financial Aid and checking the Student Requirements tab.
Elect if you wish to grant your parent or guardian access to your Tulane financial information. Once each account is created, authorized users will have access to view electronic billing statements, view account activity & history, and access electronic payment options. Authorized users will receive direct billing notifications by email when new statements are available.
Discuss with your family completing the Authorization to Release Educational Records form to grant your parent or guardian access to your educational records. Turn in these forms IN PERSON when you arrive to campus in January.
Enter your preferred name and pronouns for course rosters through Gibson Online or at the Office of the Registrar.

Request any needed accommodations (including testing) and submit documentation with the Goldman Center for Student Accessibility.
Review the Spring 2023 Schedule of Classes. Required
Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor to plan your course schedule prior to registration. Spring Scholar registration will occur NOVEMBER 1 - NOVEMBER 4.
Transfer student registration will begin NOVEMBER 7. Your advisor will email you about setting up a registration appointment. Required
Become familiar with Tulane’s Core Curriculum – requirements all students must fulfill to graduate.
Review Tulane’s comprehensive list of majors and minors. There are over 80 to explore!
Read this year’s Reading Project book, Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler. Required
Review the Tulane University Code of Academic Conduct. Required
Review the Code of Student Conduct and familiarize yourself with the student responsibilities in the Code. Required
Enroll in and complete the Student Resources and Support Services Canvas Course before your arrival to campus. Required
JANUARY 17: Deadline to complete the mandatory online health promotion courses. Check your Tulane email for instructions in mid-December. Required
JANUARY 15: Deadline to enroll in or opt out of the Tulane-sponsored Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP). Students must enroll in or waive the insurance once enrolled in classes. Enrollment opens DECEMBER 7. Required
FEBRUARY 15: Deadline to submit your immunization forms and records to The Health Center via Tulane’s Patient Portal, including COVID and flu vaccination forms. Required
NOVEMBER 15: Priority deadline to complete the housing application to request housing on campus. You will be notified of your housing assignment via your Tulane email by mid-December. Apply as soon as possible starting NOVEMBER 1! Questions? Contact Housing and Residence Life. Required
Review the Housing and Residence Life Community Living Standards. Required
Review the Spring Move-In Guide. The guide will be available in late Fall. Required

BY JANUARY 25: Review and sign up for your dining plan. First-year residential students are able to select the Unlimited, TU 15, or Kosher dining plan. First-year off-campus students can select the Commuter, Choice 50, TU 8, Unlimited, TU 15, or Kosher dining plan. Required
BY JANUARY 27: Calculate your savings on textbooks and course materials to determine if you stay opted in or manually opt out of the NTC Undergrad Bundle. This is the last day to opt out of the program.

Transfer Students: Purchase a parking permit through Tulane Parking Services Office if you will have a car on campus. [Only applies to transfer students classified as upperclassmen]
DECEMBER 4 AT 11:59PM CST: Deadline to register for 2023 Panhellenic Sorority recruitment.
DECEMBER 9 AT NOON: Panhellenic Potential New Members must have Potential New Member Education completed.

Utilize Tulane’s TurboVote resource to register to vote, apply for an absentee ballot, and receive election reminders.
