Emerging Leaders Program

Emerging Leaders is a cohort based, leadership experience for first-year undergraduate students and transfer students at Tulane University. Utilizing Tulane University’s Leadership Framework to guide the program, Emerging Leaders aims to engage first-year students in the leadership process and identify pathways to leadership within the Tulane community. Students selected for Emerging Leaders will participate in workshops that highlight tenets of the leadership framework.

Emerging Leaders participants will be provided with the opportunity to:

  • Identify pathways to leadership within the Tulane community
  • Participate in workshops that highlight tenets of Tulane University Leadership Framework
  • Build relationships with Emerging Leaders Mentors and the Emerging Leaders cohort
  • Develop leadership capacity and efficacy
  • Reflect on what makes a leader an ethical and effective agent of change

Emerging Leaders Mentors

The Emerging Leaders Mentor position is a volunteer leadership position that supports the transition and retention of first-year students participating in Emerging Leaders throughout the fall semester. Mentors serve as a resource for all Emerging Leaders participants and will facilitate leadership curriculum during weekly meetings. Additionally, Mentors will aid in the recruitment and selection of the 2020 Emerging Leaders cohort, lead small group discussion, plan weekly meetings, and conduct end of semester check-ins with Emerging Leader participants.
