Emerging Leaders is a cohort based, leadership experience for first-year undergraduate students and transfer students at Tulane University. Utilizing Tulane University’s Leadership Framework to guide the program, Emerging Leaders aims to engage first-year students in the leadership process and identify pathways to leadership within the Tulane community. Students selected for Emerging Leaders will participate in workshops that highlight tenets of the leadership framework.

The Emerging Leaders Mentor position is a volunteer leadership position that supports the transition and retention of first-year students participating in Emerging Leaders throughout the fall semester. Mentors serve as a resource for all Emerging Leaders participants and will facilitate leadership curriculum during weekly meetings. Additionally, Mentors will aid in the recruitment and selection of the 2021 Emerging Leaders cohort, lead small group discussion, plan weekly meetings, and conduct end of semester check-ins with Emerging Leader participants.
Applications for 2022 Emerging Leader Mentors will open on the NSLP WaveSync page during Spring 2022.
The application for the 2021 Emerging Leaders will consist of three essay questions. Applications will be reviewed by two Emerging Leaders Mentors and New Student & Leadership Programs staff members. The 2021 Emerging Leaders application will open on the first day of class during the Fall 2021 semester, Monday August 23rd.
During the Fall 2021 semester, Emerging Leaders will meet from 5 PM – 6 PM every Tuesday from October 12 to December 7. Please find the full list of dates below:
